Following a study about how to create stage devices that are inclusive of the audience’s presence, in Romance the device involves asking the audience directly to speak. This becomes a connection point between spectator and performer, but also a device for dialogue between the different elements of the audience. Romance is an invitation to discover the recognition, the repulsion and the humour that is created when someone allows someone else to speak for them. In an intimate setting, Lígia Soares leads us to reflect about how we think as individuals within a group, using ordinary sentences to create complex connections between herself and the public.
